God I miss the late 90’s sometimes…
That sweet sweet smell of punk-ska with a happy “Let’s skank!” feeling. A week ago, I went to the Vans Warped Tour. That was such an amazing walk down memory lane.
Ok, there WAS a lot of little emo kids… but I guess that’s alright. It’s their turn to own the scene. But there was ONE resisting stage; the union stage. Ah, good ol’ Union Stage… one of my first love. It felt so great to see it standing amongst a sea of angry confused kids, singing their party anthem. I throroughly enjoyed Planet Smashers (like I did the very first time), Subb (more then I did the first time… a band that grew a lot in the years) and The Johnstones (I saw them once before, they’ve got amazing energy).
I have one regret though, I missed Reel Big Fish. I left my friend in the rain at 16h because I didn’t care enough to stay 3 more hours waiting for a 30 minutes show in the mud. I guess some people never change
A shout out to Suicide Machines … I miss you guys so much that i’m thinking about building a Suicide Machine cover band in Montreal … Well, in reality maybe not JUST suicide machine … but still
–MAL out.
